One of the objectives of ArteSumapaz is to create an intentional community. The people who form part of this community give continuity to a holistic vision and act as stewards and caretakers of the territory. In April 2022, the ArteSumapaz Foundation signed a purchase agreement for the Hacienda Australia (a 97-hectare plot of land) and thus began the creation of the community.
Members of the foundation agreed to limit the occupation to 20% of the total acreage of the hacienda in order to reduce human impact and to conserve and regenerate the remaining 80% of the land as a natural reserve. The intentional community is composed of two sections of the property, each with its own specific name and characteristics. Both areas are currently open to new members.

One of these sections is CuatroVientos which consists of 12 individual plots on which members can build their own houses according to community-agreed rules. Most of these plots consist of approximately 1,500 m2 (the size may vary slightly from one to another according to the topography of each plot), and can accommodate up to 95 m2 of constructed living space. Other small to medium-sized plots consist of approximately 750 m2 and can accommodate up to 47,5 m2 of built space.
The section called DosQuebradas is conceived as an ecovillage where members can create their own individual bio-constructions with a “footprint” of up to 35 m2 and an approximate lot area of 200m2. This area is intended for six individual plots. DosQuebradas has the option to share kitchen, laundry and common social areas.
