I’ve received a lot of questions lately about how people can get involved with ArteSumapaz. Right now, we are still in start-up mode, dealing with things like setting up the non-profit foundation, and negotiating the lease contract.
I’ve received a lot of questions lately about how people can get involved with ArteSumapaz. Right now, we are still in start-up mode, dealing with things like setting up the non-profit foundation, and negotiating the lease contract.
The tentative calendar at this time is as follows:
January through March 2019: contract negotiation, signing, and setting up non-profit foundation. I will be attending an artist-in-residency in Fukuoko, Japan during March.
April: start renting the hacienda
April – May: this will be a couple of months in which we are occupying the finca, identifying what supplies are needed (bedding, kitchen, etc, and hiring contractors to work on the bodega. The bodega is a large utility building which will become the communal studio.
If you want become involved with the foundation, this will be a great time to visit ArteSumapaz.
June: host first Artist-in-Residencies. During this period, we will also host two or three Escuela Afuera weekend workshops, in which potential students can come and experience the school curriculum firsthand.
August: first EscuelaAfuera school sessions
